Bruce Highway (Brisbane - Gympie), Gateway Motorway to Dohles Rocks Road upgrade (Stage 1)

To improve traffic flow and safety the Queensland Government is upgrading the Bruce Highway, where it joins the Gateway Motorway and Gympie Arterial Road, south of the Pine River.

The Bruce Highway (Brisbane - Gympie), Gateway Motorway to Dohles Rocks Road upgrade (Stage 1) and the Gateway Motorway, Bracken Ridge to Pine River upgrade are being delivered together as the 'Gateway to Bruce Upgrade (G2BU)', with detailed design underway.

The G2BU will tackle long-standing congestion and safety issues on north Brisbane’s busiest transport corridor.

For information about Stage 2, visit the Bruce Highway (Brisbane - Gympie), Gateway Motorway to Dohles Rocks Road upgrade (Stage 2).

Environmental approvals

Environmental approvals are being progressed, with the Australian National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) assessing the Bruce Highway (Gateway Motorway to Dohles Rocks Road) upgrade under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).

NEPA has confirmed the upgrade to be a controlled action that will be assessed by a Public Environment Report. We are currently preparing this report for submission to NEPA.

Sustainability

Social, environmental, and economic costs and benefits are considered when assessing and delivering infrastructure projects. These broad elements of sustainability are implemented using the Infrastructure Sustainability Council Rating Tool. The Infrastructure Sustainability Council program incentivises various sustainable initiatives, including best practices pollution control, environmental protection, community engagement and resource use.

This project will pursue the achievement of an Infrastructure Sustainability Council rating of ‘Excellent’ across both design and construction phases.
