Tiaro Bypass Project Sustainability Commitment Statement

Tiaro Bypass Project Sustainability Commitment Statement

We are committed to the implementation of sustainability for the Tiaro Bypass project to achieve net positive impacts.

The Tiaro Bypass project’s sustainability commitments are aligned with both our Environmental Sustainability Policy (2021) and strategic plan 2023-27 objectives to be accessible, safe, responsive, efficient, and sustainable. Throughout design, construction, and operation of this project, we will:

Accessible

  • Strive to prioritise people’s health and wellbeing.
  • Integrate environmental, social, and economic aspects in the procurement process.
  • Provide workforce development opportunities.

Safe

  • Ensure user safety.
  • Improve flood immunity.

Responsive

  • Work with local communities and key stakeholders to leave a positive legacy.
  • Provide sustainability knowledge sharing with TMR's project team and wider industry.
  • Value and protect Indigenous, historical, shared, and natural heritage.

Efficient

  • Improve travel efficiency.
  • Pursue innovation in design and construction.
  • Implement sustainability during design, construction, and operation.

Sustainable

  • Reduce resource (water, energy, and materials) impacts over the project lifecycle.
  • Reduce waste to landfill by reducing, reusing, recycling, and recovering resources.
  • Adopt strategies for adaptation to climate change into the project’s design.
  • Deliver an asset that respects and values the natural environment, enhances biodiversity, and reduces pollution. Continually improve through identifying, documenting, and monitoring initiatives to improve sustainability outcomes of the project.

These sustainability principles are linked to specific targets and objectives within the Tiaro Bypass project’s Infrastructure Sustainability Management Plan to optimise environmental, social, economic, and governance outcomes. The responsibility to implement these principles rests with our project team, designers, and contractors.
