Caboolture to Dakabin Station Access Study, community engagement
Community consultation on the Caboolture to Dakabin Station Access Study ran from 2 to 29 September 2024. Feedback tools and activities included:
- an online survey
- train station information sessions
- community pop-ups across the study area.
Consultation focussed on gaining community insights to understand current behaviour and preferred ways to access Caboolture, Morayfield, Burpengary, Narangba and Dakabin stations.
Community engagement snapshot
More than 1,000 responses were received across all of the feedback tools and activities. This included:
- 3 community pop-up sessions at Morayfield Shopping Centre, Caboolture Square and Dakabin Shopping Centre
- 5 train station information sessions at Caboolture, Morayfield, Burpengary, Narangba and Dakabin stations
- 6,399 visitors to the online survey with 996 online surveys completed and 46 general feedback forms received
- 3,500 flyers distributed
- 11 social media posts.
Emerging themes from initial results
Key themes emerging from initial analysis of the feedback include:
- When traveling to the stations, the community cares most about timing (that is, reliably getting to the station at the right time for the next leg in a journey), safety, speed (that is, getting to the station as fast as possible), and cost.
- The community would be more likely to use public transport to access the stations if there were more frequent bus services throughout the day and night, and more bus services in growing communities.
- The community would be more likely to use bikes or e-scooters to access the stations if stations were safer and had better storage facilities.
- Access to the stations could be improved by providing more bus services with good frequency and reliability, improving paths for walking and biking, improving parking, and improving station designs and technology.
Consultation feedback will help shape solutions that improve transport access and options to the study train stations and better accommodate planned growth over the next 10 years.
