D'Aguilar Highway network safety planning
The Queensland Government is investigating ways to improve safety for motorists on the D’Aguilar Highway in the Toowoomba Region.
The D’Aguilar Highway is a major inland route linking the Bruce Highway near Caboolture with the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy.
It connects rural communities, agriculture and industry and has significant heavy vehicle traffic.
The 15km section under investigation, which includes the townships of Gilla and Yarraman, has had a high number of fatal and serious injury crashes in recent years.
We are planning to identify, assess and recommend priority safety upgrades.
Treatment options such as right turn lanes, reducing the number of highway accesses, removing roadside hazards and intersection upgrades at high-risk locations will be evaluated and prioritised based on safety benefits, costs and feasibility to inform future investment.
