Video Transcript
Wide Bay Burnett district completed works this month to seal the final 5.1km section of Monto Mount Perry Road and replace the low-lying timber bridge over Splinter Creek with a higher, more durable concrete bridge capable of withstanding a 1 in 100 year flood event. The road was open to traffic just prior to the Easter School holiday, much to the delight of locals who are benefiting from better travelling conditions and improved alignment and an increased speed limit.

Project manager Alex Chapman tells us more. We've just finished line marking and sealing the last 5.1km of the Monto Mount Perry Road. That includes the construction of the new concrete bridge, the concrete bridge is 6m taller, 6m higher than the old timber bridge next to it. It is designed to withstand a 1 in 100 year flood event.

We now have a sealed road all the way from Bundaberg to Mount Perry to Monto. TMR had a good understanding and collaborative relationship with the local North Burnett Regional Council, who allowed us to use the council road of Kerwee Road to detour traffic for the length of the project. TMR thanks the local community for their patience and cooperation during the significant construction project.
