New England Highway (Toowoomba - Warwick), improve safety
The Queensland Government is improving safety on the New England Highway to reduce the risk of fatal and serious injury crashes for all road users.
Safety will be improved on sections of the New England Highway between Steele Rudd Road, East Greenmount, and the Cunningham Highway intersection at Eight Mile, located 12km north of Warwick.
The project focuses on targeted safety treatments designed to address key risks identified through crash data.
Works include removing roadside hazards, flattening embankments, extending existing culverts, installing sloping headwalls, installing and upgrading guardrails, and adding raised reflective pavement markers.
Additional works involve road widening at the Nobby Connection Road intersection and introducing a dedicated right-turn lane.
Community engagement helped shape the design, ensuring feedback informed decisions on critical safety upgrades.
