Pacific Motorway Eight Mile Plains to Daisy Hill Upgrade (Sports Drive to Gateway Motorway Upgrade)
The Sports Drive to Gateway Motorway Upgrade was part of a rolling program of upgrades between the Gateway and Logan Motorways.
It was the first section of the Pacific Motorway (M1) to be upgraded within the broader M1 North upgrade - Stage 2, spanning 8km between Eight Mile Plains to Daisy Hill.
Stage 1 of the M1 North upgrade program is the M1/M3 Gateway Merge upgrade which was completed in May 2020.
Stage 3 of the M1 North upgrade program is the Daisy Hill to Logan Motorway upgrade. Planning continues for this project. Business case is currently being reviewed in line with advice received from Infrastructure Australia.

Key features
- 3.5km of the M1 widened to 5 northbound lanes between Sports Drive in the south to just north of the Gateway Motorway off–ramp.
- Extended the V1 Veloway from the Gateway Motorway to Camelot Park, with local connections at Logan Road, Underwood Road and Maureen Street.
- Enhanced the fish passage in Bulimba Creek Tributary Brook, known locally as Big Al’s Brook.
- Installed noise barriers for residents on the western side of the motorway.

Current status

- location for the new M1 on-ramp at Lexington Road, Underwood that replaced the Sports Drive M1 on-ramp, and a new shared use path from Springwood Road to the new Rochedale bus station at Underwood Road.
