Kawana Motorway (Mooloolah River Interchange to Kawana Way Link Road)
Early planning is complete for a new motorway link (Kawana Motorway) between Parrearra and Meridan Plains. This new motorway will help cater for the growing population.
The department is planning to improve a section of the Sunshine Motorway between Dixon Road, Buderim and the Mooloolah River Interchange.
Options will be investigated to accommodate increasing traffic demands and improve safety and efficiency along this section of the Sunshine Motorway and the surrounding road network.
The planning will align with the Sunshine Motorway, Mooloolah River Interchange Upgrade project.
Planning for this project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments. Investment ID 2356108
Planning for this upgrade is expected to start in 2027 following further investigations for improving the network around the Sunshine Motorway, Mooloolah River Interchange to ensure long-term resilience.
There is currently no funding allocated for detailed design or construction. Funding for the upgrade will be considered against other infrastructure priorities across the state.
The Australian and Queensland governments aim to embed sustainability into infrastructure planning, design, construction and operation to deliver environmental, social and economic benefits to the community.
