Focus Area 4: Promote Social Cohesion
All Queenslanders have a responsibility to foster social cohesion in our communities. The Queensland Government will take action to respect and celebrate the contributions of Queenslanders from diverse backgrounds.

| All Agencies Action – Take a strong stance against racism, and actively promote anti-racism messages to staff, clients and communities in line with each agency’s unique context. | Delivered | The department takes a clear and unapologetic stance against racism in all its forms and is demonstrated though whole agency communication campaigns for International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, First Nations Days of Significance and Multicultural Queensland Month. Our responsibility goes beyond non-discrimination — we are actively working to create a culturally safe, inclusive and respectful workplace for our culturally diverse staff.
In our context, this means developing and delivering targeted campaigns such as The Line is Here, which will challenge racism and discrimination at all levels, while also providing the tools and language for staff to safely call out unacceptable behaviour. We have also committed to separating our awareness campaign from the structural work required to embed accountability — including progressing policy reform and a culturally safe reporting framework to ensure there are real consequences when the line is crossed. This is not a one-off initiative. It’s a sustained cultural shift backed by leadership, co-designed with staff, and reinforced through clear messaging, training, and ongoing engagement with communities and employee networks. |

This campaign will form the foundation of our approach to building a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace — with a strong focus on increasing staff awareness of racism, discrimination and everyday workplace behaviours that cause harm. The Line is Here will:
Consultation is underway with key stakeholders across the department to ensure the program is relevant, inclusive and accessible across all business areas. Once launched, this campaign will play a central role in supporting behavioural and cultural change across the department. |
