Check the Bureau of Meteorology for the latest weather updates and warnings. You can also view local area disaster dashboards and sign up for weather alerts from your local council using the links available at Get Ready Queensland.

Disaster support

The Australian and Queensland Governments have activated Personal Hardship Assistance for residents within the Brisbane, Fraser Coast, Gold Coast City, Logan City, Moreton Bay, Redland City and Scenic Rim Local Government Areas through the joint Commonwealth-state Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Check your eligibility and apply online for DRFA Personal Hardship Assistance or phone the Queensland Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349.

Those who live or garage their car in activated areas are eligible for transport and motoring assistance including:

  • no administration surcharges for 3 or 6 month renewal periods
  • no registration renewal reinstatement fees for late registration payments
  • replacement of lost or damaged number plates
  • replacement of lost or damaged driver licences
  • 2 month extension to Certificate of Inspection (COI) for heavy and public passenger where the certificate expires within 3 months of the disaster declaration. This applies to vehicles being inspected by either NHVR or AIS.

For more information about DRFA assistance and how it's helping disaster-impacted communities, please visit the Disaster Assist or Queensland Reconstruction Authority websites.

Roads

Roads and bridges are expected to be impacted by flooding and high winds. Please drive to the conditions and avoid travel when possible.

Visit QLD Traffic for all traffic alerts, road closures and condition updates for major roads in Queensland. You can also download the QLD Traffic app or call 13 19 40 for real-time information. For detailed information on road closures broken down by district, please visit the district road reports.

If it's flooded, forget it.

Public transport

Bus and rail services will suspend operations after the final service Wednesday, March 5 2025 until further notice. This will allow crews time to safely shut down the network.

Users of the public transport network are encouraged to monitor Tropical Cyclone Alfred service impacts for updates.

Boating and waterways

Maritime Safety Queensland advises that a 'Red Alert' will soon be issued by the Brisbane Harbourmaster. This means that no vessels will be permitted on the water until further notice.

Boaters are encouraged to review the information on extreme weather contingency plans and preparing for severe weather.

Customer services

Transport and motoring service centres and government service office locations (QGAP facilities) will be closed from Thursday, 6 March 2025 until further notice. Customers with practical driving tests scheduled around this time will be contacted to reschedule.

We offer more than 60 online services.

Digital Licence

Queenslanders are encouraged to download the Digital Licence app which is legally equivalent to a physical card under Queensland law, assisting in identity verification during a disaster.
