2025 Disclosure log

The Right to Information Act 2009 (the Act) commenced on 1 July 2009. Documents released under the Act to applicants will be progressively published via our Disclosure Log.

On 22 February 2013 the Right to Information Act 2009 was amended to provide new disclosure log requirements in respect of right to information applications made to departments and ministers.

The Act requires departments and ministers to include certain information in a disclosure log as soon as practicable after a valid access application is made, in particular, the details of the information being sought and the date the application was made valid.

If departments and ministers decide to give access to a document that does not contain personal information of the applicant, and the applicant accesses the document within the access period (40 business days), departments and ministers are required to also include in the disclosure log a copy of the document, the name of the applicant and if access to the document was sought for the benefit or use by an entity other than the applicant, the name of the other entity*.

If the applicant does not access the document within the access period, then the details of the document and information about the way in which the document may be accessed changes will be included in the disclosure log.

Disclosure Log

*Under section 78B of the Act, information must be deleted from any document or information included in a disclosure log under section 78(2), including an individual's name, if publication:

• is prevented by law
• would be defamatory
• would unreasonably invade a person's privacy
• is confidential communication by a person other than the agency
• is protected under contract
• would cause substantial harm to an entity.

Where the released documents are not attached to the relevant entry, the following information will help you identify the department's reason for not including the documents:

1. Documents contain information that could be defamatory.
2. Documents not published due to copyright or contractual considerations, or prevented by law.
3. Documents not published due to privacy or confidentiality considerations.
4. Due to size constraints, copies of the documents for this application cannot be published on the disclosure log.*
5. No documents released, or pages would be blank after the removal of personal information.
6. No document released - request mediated or withdrawn.
7. Part publication – some of the documents for this application cannot be published on the disclosure log due to size.*
8. Publication of documents may cause substantial harm to an entity.
