Trinder Park station precinct upgrade

The Trinder Park station precinct is being upgraded as part of the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project to improve accessibility, safety and customer experience.

Trinder Park train station will be relocated to the edge of Acacia Forest Park and the park ‘n’ ride moved to Candish Street, minimising environmental impacts and improving connections to the station from both sides of the rail corridor.

The updated design also includes a new road-over-rail bridge linking to Acacia Road, together with walking and cycling connections.

These designs have been further developed by the ActivUs Alliance following initial design work this year and incorporating feedback from prior community and stakeholder consultation.

As part of the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project, we will also remove the level crossing between Railway Parade and Station Road, Woodridge.

Benefits

  • Improves safety
  • Accessibility
  • Increases capacity
  • Improves network efficiency
  • Reduces peak hour congestion
  • Contributes to economy
  • Better active transport
  • Reduces travel time
  • Better road access

Key features

The Trinder Park station precinct upgrade will provide:

  • improved safety and customer experience with lighting and CCTV throughout the station and park ‘n’ ride and increased platform coverage
  • a new park ‘n’ ride in Candish Street, providing greater connectivity for the local community and minimising disturbance to vegetation in Acacia Forest Park
  • relocated bus stops to Acacia Road, improving access and connections to the local bus network
  • a new straight section of track, removing a considerable curve and contributing to improved future rail operational safety
  • a new road-over-rail bridge linking Acacia Road to a realigned Railway Parade, including a signalised intersection, and walking and cycle paths.

A key feature of the Trinder Park station precinct upgrade is the track straightening works.

The curved section of track near Trinder Park station, which was originally constructed in 1888, is one of the sharpest on the South East Queensland rail network. Straightening the curve through the Trinder Park area will improve track speeds and sight distances, contribute to reduced journey time and improved reliability for customers. The alignment will also allow the new Trinder Park station to be located on straight track to ensure a high standard of accessibility for customers.

Most importantly, the track straightening in combination with removing the existing Trinder Crossing level crossing, will significantly contribute to improving future rail operational safety.

Trinder Crossing level crossing removal

We are closing the Trinder Crossing level crossing between Railway Parade and Station Road, Woodridge. A new road-over-rail bridge will provide a cross-corridor connection at Acacia Road, with a realigned Railway Parade connecting through to Smith Road.
Walking and cycle paths will also be provided on Smith Road, Railway Parade and Acacia Road, as well as across the rail corridor.
