School Active Transport Infrastructure Pilot

We are delivering the School Active Transport Infrastructure Pilot at Caloundra State School and Caloundra State High School, in collaboration with the Department of Education and Sunshine Coast Council.

The pilot is developing and testing an approach for rapidly planning safe and fit-for-purpose bike riding and walking infrastructure and behaviour change initiatives to help more Queensland children ride bikes and walk to school.

The first stage of the pilot is currently underway and will be complete in early 2026. It involves a planning study to look at how staff, students and families feel about riding and walking to school. It will also assess the physical environment within 2km of the pilot schools.
