Key action 6: Address racism and discrimination, and promote inclusion
Queensland Government agencies will ensure equitable and respectful opportunities and experiences for staff and customers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, through targeted initiatives to address unconscious bias and racism and promote inclusion. As per the Queensland Multicultural Policy, activities in this section should link to one or more of the following high-level outcomes:

TMR’s CSB Accessibility and Inclusion Interest Group continuing with monthly meetings covering a range of accessibility and inclusion topics. In 2023, sessions addressing racism and discrimination included: March: Harmony Week - Celebrating diversity, building inclusivity, and ending racism and July: Say My Name campaign. TMR’s HRB are currently procuring Respectful Relationship Training, also delivered and facilitated by MATE. The training content focuses on the intersectional nature of people and aims to address key issues of bullying, unlawful discrimination and racism by increasing proactiveness, awareness, and education through the MATE Bystander framework, and providing practical tools that encourage a culture of respect and inclusion. |

TMR mandates that all employees must undertake Online Accessibility and Inclusion Training on an annual basis. Customers First Initiatives Training (CFIT) builds employee awareness on the values, behaviours and mindset that enables individuals and teams to put customers at the centre of everything they do. The training focuses on the diversity of TMR's customers, their wide-ranging needs, and expectations, and how to identify, understand and tailor customer experiences to meet and exceed specific and unique customer requirements. Over 840 employees have been trained in CFIT Online training. CEB continue to deliver additional customers first culture and capability training:
TMR’s CSB Accessibility and Inclusion Interest Group continues with monthly meetings covering a range of accessibility and inclusion topics. Several CALD-focussed presentations delivered in 2024, including personal story shares from staff with a CALD background and employee panel event to celebrate Multicultural Queensland Month (MQM). MQM Panel was attended by over 80 TMR staff, hosted by a CALD TMR executive with 4 CALD staff members sharing stories and barriers. To celebrate MQM and Harmony Week, whole of TMR integrated communications plans were collaboratively developed by the various I&D programs across TMR, delivering consistent key messaging across branches, including:
One staff member story attracted 7633 views, 172 likes and 18 comments on Viva Engage. Members of TMR and CSB Leadership team have attended BlackCard Training as sponsored by the TMR Accessible Transport Network, with a total of 5 sessions attended to so far. Select Business areas within the department have also funded additional sessions for their units. Facilitation of the BlackCard sessions will now be delivered by the Indigenous Strategy Unit. The mandatory Accessibility and Inclusion at TMR online training module is currently in its second iteration. |

The Executive Champion for Inclusion and Diversity has increased to four messages annually that are designed to educate, inform, and build inclusive behaviours. Visible support is demonstrated in communication campaigns in Harmony Week, MQM, and other days of cultural significance. HRB continues to monitor the impact of these messages and there has been a decrease of 6% of employees viewing messaging, and 49% decrease of employees responding with a 'like' and/or commenting on Viva Engage from 2022 to 2023. TMR continues to hold Director-General (DG) Roadshows, held throughout Queensland and online. These roadshows are a program where TMR's Executive leaders provide a personal update about TMR while building the connection towards building OneTMR family. This forum connects all employees regionally and in Brisbane. |

In 2022, the A&I Program completed an extensive review of the PDT and identified several ways the process could be improved for all, including people with disabilities, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and First Nations customers. Work is underway to trial elements of the priority recommendations from the PDT experience review, specifically in relation to formalising the existing customer accommodation request process. As such, the Practical Driving Test (PDT) Logan Driver Assessment Centre (DAC) Accommodation Form Trial launched 26/08/2024. The trial aims to make it easier for customers, including CALD communities, to request accommodations or adjustments for their practical driving test, along with providing consistent framework for staff who manage these requests. |

A new mandatory course Public entities and the Queensland Human Rights Act 2019 has been introduced to replace the Australian Human Rights and Access and Inclusion course. Completion rates for are 82.9% in 2024. The Learning and Development Developmental Inclusion and Diversity section of the TMR Learning Hub includes over 10,000 programs, courses, resources, videos and information on inclusion, diversity, cultural sensitivity, and racism. The has number of employees completing this LinkedIn Learning online training has increased between 2023 and 2024. |

TMR continues to have an ongoing partnership the Diversity Council of Australia as a corporate member. TMR has continued ongoing partnerships with Multicultural Australia, Refugee Council of Australia, Access Community Services and Community Support, Brisbane and Engineers Australia who support the employment of migrant engineers. |
