We offer a variety of roles in some of the most beautiful regions of Queensland.
Our Graduate Program is a 2-year structured opportunity that helps you apply what you've learned in university to kickstart your career in a supportive setting.
You'll face challenging tasks that come with real responsibility and accountability. The program combines hands-on experience with further learning from your daily tasks, smoothing your transition from student life to full-time employment.
Graduate roles we recruit
We recruit graduates from a range of disciplines in various locations across Queensland including (but not limited to):
- civil engineering
- electrical engineering
- mechanical engineering
- environment and cultural heritage
- town and transport planning
- property and property economics
- spatial science and survey.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the 2026 Graduate Program, you needed to:
- have completed a university degree (undergraduate or postgraduate) from a recognised tertiary institution within the last 3 years. This means to be eligible for the 2026 cohort, you must have completed your bachelor’s degree (or higher) prior to commencing
- have your qualification officially recognised if from an overseas institution. You will be required to provide this as part of your submission
- be an Australian Citizen or reside in Australia and have permission, under a law of the Commonwealth, to work in Australia.
Important information for engineering graduates: Engineering qualifications must be 4 Year Washington Accord accredited or undergo assessment for accreditation through Engineers Australia.

Our Graduate Program timeline
16 February 2026
Our Graduate Program starts today with:
- local induction
- meet the team
- setting up your systems access
- mandatory training
- connecting with your Grad Buddy.
Your 6-month probationary period also starts today.
Your supervisor will inform you about the work, how you can contribute to the team, and what you will learn. There will be several check-ins over the next 6 months.
17 February 2026
You will attend an online meeting with members of the graduate team and your branch coordinators. During the meeting, you will also gain insight into the tools we for collaboration.
March 2026
Throughout the program, graduates will attend 4 in-person learning and developments sessions, called CoLabs! These multi-day group workshops and seminars assist graduates to develop their professional capabilities.
Collaboration session (CoLab1)
You will meet with your cohort in Brisbane for a week to learn about the business and our work methods, and to get to know each other. This CoLab is designed to help graduates in their personal empowerment to self-manage their professional responsibilities.
August 2026
Your probation has ended
Now that your probation has ended, your performance and development plan will replace your probation discussions. You will receive feedback on your strengths and areas for improvement.
Performance and Development Plan
We will update your plan to reflect what you have learned and your ongoing technical development. You may have the opportunity to rotate to a different team or remain where you are to strengthen your skills.
Rotation schedules are flexible. For example, your placements may be:
- 1 x 12 months, then 2 x 6 month, or
- 3 x 8 month, or
- 4 x 6 months
Collaboration session (CoLab2)
CoLab 2 is designed to help graduates make decisions that meet immediate team needs while aligning with Queensland's long-term goals. During face-to-face sessions in Brisbane over one week, you can look forward to workshops on government accountability, negotiation and conflict resolution, and influential communication.
November 2026
You will have the opportunity to act as a buddy for the incoming cohort, sharing your tips and tricks on settling into the department and reflect on your journey to this point.
February 2027
We will update your performance and development plan to reflect what you have learned and your ongoing technical development. You may have the option to rotate to a different team within the department to experience how your discipline can be applied in various areas.
March 2027
Collaboration session (CoLab 3)
CoLab 3 aims to empower graduates with professional self-management skills through a mix of strategic, technical, and personal development activities. During face-to-face sessions in Brisbane over one week, you can look forward to workshops on career vision, stakeholder engagement, policy development, and job readiness.
October 2027
Collaboration session (CoLab 4)
CoLab 4 focuses on embedding key professional concepts through real-world TMR examples. You will hear from TMR subject matter experts on a range of topics from customer experience, major infrastructure projects, personal branding and career development, strategic thinking and transitioning from graduate roles to individual contributors.
February 2028
You have completed the TMR Graduate Program. You have developed a strong network across the organisation, refined your technical skills, and gained valuable professional knowledge. You can share your experience in the program.
