Transport and Logistics Workforce Advisory Committee (TLWAC) member biographies

The Transport and Logistics Workforce Advisory Committee (TLWAC) includes the following members:

George Hodgson, Australasian Supply Chain and Logistics Association

George HodgsonGeorge is a highly accomplished and contemporary senior logistics professional with 20 years of experience leading diverse military and civilian teams. 

With an extensive background in operational and Lean Thinking logistics, George has been deployed working with the United Nations in East Timor and has also been a Commanding Officer of an operational Air Base. George is an active TLWAC committee member, frequently engaging with students through the Transfutures internship program to offer industry advice and experience. 

George is a Committee Member and Membership Officer of the Australasian Supply Chain & Logistics Association and is a strong advocate for mentoring future generations of logisticians to support their careers in the transport and logistics industry. He holds a Master of Business (Logistics) from RMIT University in Melbourne and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. 

 

Julie Russell OAM, Russell Transport

Julie RussellJulie is a Director and third-generation family member of Queensland-based Russell Transport. Julie furthered her knowledge through university studies and on-the-ground, practical industry experience before returning to the family business to oversee all risk, compliance, human resources and back office support functions of the growing family business.  

In 2014, Julie was recognised as Queensland Trucking Association’s Woman of the Year, and then went on to win the Australian Trucking Association's National Woman of the Year title in 2015. In honour of her services to the road transport industry, Julie was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2023.

Julie has actively worked on numerous committees and boards within the road transport industry to provide a business perspective to policy proposals, training standards and industry awareness programs. Julie is the past president of the QTA, having stepped down in 2021 after taking up a role on the board of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator. Julie also holds a board position with the ATA and leading family business Russell Transport.

 

Kaylee Clark, Clark’s Logan City Bus Service

Kaylee imageKaylee is a second-generation family member who has worked in the Bus and Coach Industry for over 30 years. During this period Kaylee has gained immeasurable experience in a range of areas including customer service, administration, and stakeholder relations, while today holding the position of Manager of Finance and Performance.

Kaylee is part of the Senior Management Team with her current role enabling her to work closely with TransLink and other Key Stakeholders in the delivery of Public Transport to the City of Logan.

Kaylee has completed University studies in accounting, management, transport studies, town planning and architectural design. Kaylee is an enthusiastic advocate for the promotion of Public Transport as both a travel choice and a career path within Clarks.

Since 2019, Kaylee has held a position on the Queensland Bus Industry Council’s (QBIC) Commercial Committee. In 2024, Kaylee was awarded QBIC Achiever of the Year and has also been appointed QBIC President for 2024/25.

Kaylee looks forward to the opportunity that TLWAC provides in progressing the Transport Industry and the workforce challenges it faces.

 

Lauren Hewitt, Queensland Transport and Logistics Council

Lauren Hewitt

Lauren has demonstrated ability to liaise, interpret and mediate between parties facing critical environmental challenges. This has included work in project development for Queensland’s energy producers as well as General Manager Policy of Queensland’s peak agricultural body, AgForce. 

In 2015, Lauren was awarded Queensland Rural Woman of the Year. 

As CEO of the Queensland Transport and Logistics Council Lauren applies her skills in considering and improving the efficiency and footprint of the freight sector. 

 

Lisa Fraser, Queensland Trucking Association

Lisa FraserLisa Fraser is a solutions-oriented leader in the transport and logistics sector, currently serving as the General Manager of Strategy and Engagement at the Queensland Trucking Association (QTA). With over a decade of experience in the road freight industry, she excels in driving strategic initiatives and fostering personalised engagement with stakeholders. 

Lisa is committed to outcomes-driven approaches and develops projects that deliver meaningful benefits to the industry. She is dedicated to advocating for, and actively supports the future of a sustainable, productive and efficient industry.

Lisa has been on the Transport and Logistics Workforce Advisory Committee since March 2018 and values the opportunity it presents to collaborate and develop relevant, industry-led training and skilling priorities.

 

Mattie Ryan, Primary Connect

Peter TurnerMattie is currently heading up Supply Chain Operations for Primary Connect (Woolworths Group Supply Chain). This includes supply chain services to Woolworths supermarkets, Big W and Endeavour Group across Queensland and Northern NSW.

Mattie has previously held senior roles in Staples/WINC as the Director of Operations in Australia/NZ, along with an 11 year career with DHL Global Freight & Contract Logistics Europe, Middle East and Africa.

A key passion for Mattie in his 25 years working in Supply Chain is safety within our industry. As part of his role Mattie is also keen to explore optimisation within the supply chain and reducing vehicle movements on our roads through forward planning distribution centres.

Mattie is very keen to participate in TLWAC and collaborate with other industries in sharing best practice including, diversity, team engagement and safety in the workplace. 

 

Michaela Moss, Australian Commercial Vessel Operators Association

Michaela MossMichaela Moss is the Executive Officer of the Australian Commercial Vessel Operators Association, bringing over two decades of maritime expertise. Her career encompasses roles in maritime training and auditing nationally and internationally with Svitzer, Maersk and Port of Brisbane, operating her own consultancy, and a decade with Maritime Safety Queensland and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. Michaela's practical experience spans maritime safety, learning, certification, competency frameworks, and career development pathways.

A passionate advocate for diversity and inclusivity, Michaela has contributed to initiatives like the International Day for Women in Maritime, focusing on creating safe and inclusive workplaces in the industry. Her interest in emerging technologies led her to earn a Master’s in Digital Learning Leadership, concentrating on immersive virtual reality and fixed bridge simulation activity design.

As facilitator of the Maritime Industry Careers Group, Michaela continues to champion lifelong maritime career opportunities and raising awareness of industry pathways inspiring the next generation of maritime professionals.

 

Rachel Emery, Department of Trade, Employment and Training

Rachel EmeryRachel is the Manager and Industry Lead for transport and logistics within the Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives team at the Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET). She is also Industry Lead for the digital skills and energy/electrotechnology portfolios, which are integral to supporting innovation and growth in the transport and logistics industry.

With more than 25 years of public sector experience, Rachel has extensive expertise in vocational education and training (VET), skills development, and workforce matters. Her strength lies in engaging with customers and stakeholders to drive meaningful outcomes for industry and the broader Queensland community.

As a dedicated member of TLWAC, Rachel is committed to advancing the Queensland Skills Strategy 2024–2028 and the Queensland Transport and Logistics Workforce Strategy and Action Plan 2025–2028. Her work focuses on ensuring Queenslanders are equipped with the skills and workforce capabilities required to meet current and future industry demands. Rachel leverages her deep industry knowledge to provide strategic insights to the Department and to promote programs and initiatives that foster growth and advancement of the transport and logistics sector.

 

Reggie Wynne, Queensland Rail

Reggie WynneReggie is the Manager of Career Pathways and Training Integration at Queensland Rail. Reggie joined Queensland Rail in 2013.

With over 20 years of experience in human resources, Reggie has dedicated her career to fostering growth and development within private and public organisations.

Reggie is skilled in creating visible and motivating career pathways, ensuring that employees have clear and attainable goals for growth and advancement. Reggie promotes a culture of equity and respect, and her leadership has been instrumental in cultivating diverse and dynamic teams.

Reggie is a trusted advisor, leader and specialist in training and development.

 

Sarah Heppes, Queensland Bus Industry Council

Sarah MuirheadSarah has worked with the Queensland Bus Industry Council as their Member Services Officer since 2013, playing an integral role in advocacy and ensuring the voice of the industry is represented. Sarah provides advice and support to private bus and coach operators across Queensland, maintaining members' knowledge and understanding of legislation, and industry policy and practices.

Sarah comes from a bus industry and tourism background, after completing a bachelor degree in Ecotourism at Flinders University Sarah expanded her experience within the tourism and transport industry as a guide in some of Queensland's leading adventure destinations.

Sarah's recent roles also included several years as the Tour Manager for a South East Queensland Coach company, where she managed their day tour and extended coach tours.

Sean Collingwood, Department of Transport and Main Roads

Sean CollingwoodSean Collingwood is the Executive Director at the Department of Transport and Main Roads responsible for multi-modal, strategic freight planning and freight industry partnerships. A key part of his role is leading industry engagement, and the development and implementation of policies and strategies relating to Queensland’s ports and the rail, road, marine and air freight transport systems.

Sean is a qualified town planner with 19 years’ experience in land use and infrastructure planning, and over the last five years has specialised in planning and business case development for state and regionally significant rail infrastructure amongst other network priorities. He is a strong advocate for industry and government partnerships, and building alliances with key stakeholders to support the delivery of joint outcomes.

 

Tom Jensen, Freight & Trade Alliance

Tom JensenTom Jensen brings over 30 years of experience in international logistics and freight forwarding, with a strong background in commercial strategy, operations, and team leadership. He has worked across Australia managing complex supply chain operations and building long-standing customer relationships.

As General Manager at Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA), Tom represents importers, exporters, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers. He leads national advocacy and provides member support across issues impacting the supply chain.

Tom works closely with government, regulators, and industry to put forward member concerns and secure reforms that enhance trade facilitation, border processes, landside logistics, and supply chain productivity. He is committed to ensuring industry voices shape practical, real-world solutions.
