QTMP will deliver supporting infrastructure, including road upgrades, rail connection works, train testing infrastructure, additional train stabling and signalling upgrades. This will ensure integration with the existing rail network, delivered by TMR and Queensland Rail.

Goldmine Road upgrade

Current status

The Queensland Government has begun early works for the Goldmine Road upgrade, including the Ormeau rail facility entrance.

Design now available

In August 2024, we announced that Goldmine Road will be jointly upgraded by TMR and City of Gold Coast to meet current road standards and improve safety, traffic flow, active transport and flood resilience.

As part QTMP, we will deliver a section of the upgrade, including the new Ormeau rail facility entrance – a new signalised intersection to be located on Goldmine Road.

The design for the next stage of the upgrade (known as stage two) is now available.

Construction of the upgrade will commence in early 2026.

As further details on the construction schedule are defined, TMR will provide further information to key stakeholders and the local community about what to expect in advance of works commencing.

Network connection works

Works are underway to connect the Torbanlea train manufacturing facility and Ormeau rail facility into the existing rail line.
