Digitising customer interactions
Queensland Digital Licence
Since its statewide launch in November 2023, over one million Queenslanders have adopted the Queensland Digital Licence. In 2025, the Queensland Digital Licence was upgraded to translate Queensland's native driving licence classes into the international classes outlined in Part one of the ISO IEC 18013 standard. This enhancement will assist Queenslanders who wish to drive in foreign jurisdictions that recognise the ISO standard by translating their native licence classes into a universally understood format.
The Queensland Digital Licence continues to evolve, driven by customer feedback and demand. Additional credentials and licences are being integrated into the digital licence, transforming it into a whole-of-government Digital Wallet. This Digital Wallet will simplify transactions with the Queensland Government and enable real-time updates to personal information. Ultimately, the Digital Wallet allows customers the option to choose a paperless experience and no longer relying on physical documents.
Queensland Digital Identity
In April 2025, the Queensland Digital Identity replaced the ageing Queensland Government Customer Identity Management platform, which many customers previously used to access online services.
The Queensland Digital Identity verifies government issued documents directly with the document issuer. This includes Queensland and interstate driver licences, Australian passports, Australian visas, birth certificates, citizenship certificates, Medicare cards, and more. This new system enhances security and reduces fraud for customers transacting with the Queensland Government online. It provides the Queensland Government with a higher level of assurance over the identity of an individual transacting online and gives customers a greater level of security around their private information.
