Overview

Action 1.6: Research innovative funding models to support the delivery of cycling infrastructure and publish the findings.

Lead agency: Department of Transport and Main Roads

Status: Complete

Achievements

There are many ways that infrastructure for bicycle riding can be funded from both government and non-government sources.

We engaged Griffith University to undertake a comprehensive analysis of innovative national and international cycling infrastructure funding opportunities.

The report presents the findings of a review of current funding streams in Queensland along with analysis of new innovative schemes that could be employed to expedite cycling infrastructure delivery in Queensland.

The report does not reflect Queensland Government policy. It is intended as a useful resource for local government and community stakeholders when developing and planning cycling infrastructure.

Next steps

Griffith University has published the report on Innovative Cycling Infrastructure Funding Models and their potential in Queensland on its website for reference by the Queensland Government and our stakeholders.
