Integrate walking as a key transport mode in the planning and subsequent delivery of the new Translink app to assist our customers in effective journey planning

Overview

Translink launched an early version of its new app. It lets users select walking as a journey mode and get guided directions.

Achievements

Most Queenslanders walk in some form every day, whether it be:

  • for recreation
  • exercise
  • to public transport, work, or school.

Walking is a core part of how we access public transport and travel in our local communities. Four out of every five trips to public transport are undertaken by walking.

Journey planner is a core feature of the Translink app. We are reviewing how to best support people to walk. This includes improving access to stations and stops. We will also share updates via our digital channels. This helps people of all ages and abilities use our passenger transport network.

We launched an early version of the new Translink app. This release focused on journey planning. It added new features to help people walking and riding. Users can now choose walking directions in the journey planner. They can also modify the walking distance. Guided directions to stops and stations help everyone on their journey.

Next steps

We will roll out updated versions of the Translink app. These versions aim to enhance functionality and user experience. Information on the app will be made available on the Translink website.
